Final movie

mute video

note to marker

-There was a complication in cryengine, every time i were to delete a part of my model it would re-appear when it was saved and opened again. There is not much of a difference and the screenshots give a good indication of the final.

-Music in my final movie did not work, I was also unable to place the song I was using on the blog. Mute the final, as the end of the movie has a strange noise.

final screenshots

music

I found a song that I sourced from creative commons, i have put this in my movie. When I published it the music was not there, I found the windows movie maker a pain to work with as we did not get given a clear understanding of how to work the program and some of work has been lost with saving complications.

music ideas

for the music i'm wanting a relaxing chilled song with a beat in the background. the first minute of this song sounds like it could relate to my final. The problem is that I am not sure whether this has copyright or not.

underwater video

A small video of the character swimming underwater and showing the overlayed shapes.

remove and add

deleted middle part of my big model and placed a rotating tower as a focal point to move around

video

A video of some moving parts, they are all rotating at different speeds but will eventually end up in there natural state. I could make them move faster and then stop when they reach their original position. Im worried all the different parts make it hard to concentrate on what I want, so I have to make sure its clean and not too busy.

underwater shot

An abstract shot underwater, the blue light shines through and shows how one moving object slides through the gaps in between the layers. The sunset also shines through the water reflecting with my orange colours.

water

An idea that could solve my problem of the design as it was getting too confusing to move through in my animation. The model sits half in the ground, with lighting it means it can still be seen but the model could start halfway through the water and move its way upwards.

suggestions/ideas

In this model I deleted a few parts as the model as a whole was becoming confusing to move through I still feel the model is rather big with a lot of different layers. There may be too many to get through in the animation.

I was suggested that I put in a wall that the animation could move through, if I were to use this idea I would create a different model-like wall from sketch up and import it in to my model in cry engine.

movement 2

Showing movement of the half circles
There is empty space between the two parts. I decided to slide one of the layers to slot into the gaps in the other layers. When i am moving through my space this creates a ladder effect to get from one side to the other.

movement 1

I have started playing around with movement and started off with the orange circles and how they could move to create an extra pathway in my model.

lighting

The red lighting used in the other model wasnt very noticable, the blue light hits the model from underneath which gives it more of a depth as it only hits parts of the model giving it a range of different tones of light.

inspiration

university of Bahrain architecture photographed by Ahmed Haji
This is a shot looking up the ceiling of a tower at the university.

The photographer captured this from a very effective angle, showing perspective of the bright sky with the curves surrounding the ceiling. The grey concrete looks similar to my model, I'm inspired by the angle and feel it could be a good starting point to my animation.

100 words independent study

My model has become playful and gives a sense of depth using layering, the orange colours work well with the textured gray concrete looking shapes. I intend for the orange circle to act as a base and to be the main viewpoints in the model. For the animation I imagine to make the half circles spin and rotate to join together and make them link together. The orange circle are made up of 3 layers, I could make them separate and join back together to then hover in the air to then align together. The half circles are all overlayed which could be interested to make them slide through each other and then into a certain sequence.

Cryengine 1

First few trials in Cryengine, played around time of day and different views. Yet to still get the hang of lighting

process final sketchup model

I added circles to my final model  and repeated my pattern to add more depth, I found orange worked quiet well with grey and made the model look more playful. I am now in the process of adding texture

Progress

Repeated the first pattern to slot together like a puzzle, creating depth and height to the model. The repeated structure fits together to form a circle.

close-up of the model

Progess model

First progress of model, the curves all fit rotating in with each other

Sketches

These sketches originally come from my proportion model, I found the overlapping and shapes interesting to further investigate
